The AlphaNYC Theater Company will be presenting 2 performances of Rich Orloff’s short 1 act collection, Nothing Serious, on Saturday, February 23rd and is seeking 12 directors to direct a 1 act.
Potential directors can be up-and-coming directors, actors/actresses with an interest in directing, or stage managers with an interest in directing.
Interested candidates should send a directing, stage managing, and/or acting resume to [email protected] ASAP. Those without that type of resume may send an e-mail of interest to the same address.
Potential directors will need to:
* Pitch their vision of one of the short 1 acts in Nothing Serious to mentor director on Sunday, January 20th in person or remotely
* Present mentor director a potential rehearsal schedule for their one act.
Each chosen director will be assigned a single 1 act play, 6 to 8 pages in length from Rich Orloff’s Nothing Serious to both cast, rehearse and direct for performance at one of the two scheduled performances.
Chosen directors will be required to:
* Attend the scheduled auditions on Saturday, January 26th from 12PM till 3PM and cast their 1 act using the talent seen at that call and/or using their own resources.
* Rehearse their assigned 1 act at their own discretion and cost.
* Present their assigned 1 act at rehearsal on Sunday, February 10th where mentor director will provide guidance, feedback, and critique.
* Present their assigned 1 act at dress rehearsal on Saturday, February 23rd.
* Present their assigned 1 act at a single performance on Saturday, February 23rd.
A single director will be chosen as BEST DIRECTOR by 3 anonymous judges who will be in attendance at performances.

Synopsis: Get ready for a feast of bite-sized entertainment with this collection of short comedies by prolific playwright Rich Orloff when Nothing Serious comes to The Roebuck Theater at the Times Square Art Center in New York. Quirky characters and unexpected storylines abound in each 10-minute play, representing Orloff's most popular and acclaimed work. Included are Bride and Gloom, which finds a soon-to-be-married woman focusing on her divorce instead of her wedding. Other selections include Last-Minute Adjustments, Bladder Control, and Oh My God, It's Another Play!

Fairy Tale Courtroom

Synopsis: This extremely adaptable comedy shows the other side of several familiar fairy tales when one of their biggest villains, the Wicked Witch is brought to trial. The witch has been frolicking from fairy tale to fairy tale wreaking havoc as she tries to prevent the general public from living happily ever after. Hear the personal accounts of what happened, told in testimonies and flashback sequences, from characters such as Snow White, Dorothy, Sleeping Beauty, the Three Pigs, Little Red Riding Hood and many others, including the Witch herself, as each trial unfolds.
Breakdown: Child/teen actors and actresses, ages 4 to 17 only, no adults
District Attorney - Determined; Dead set on convicting Big Bad Wolf and the Wicked Witch of the West;
Bailiff - No-nonsense; Assists the judge in running the trials; Must be an excellent reader;

Singers should prepare 30 seconds to a 1 minute cut of a song. Non-singers should prepare a monologue, commercial, or knock knock jokes of their choice.
What If I Can’t Make Any of the Scheduled Audition Times?:

For Those Previously Scheduled, Where Are Auditions?:
Auditions & rehearsals will be held at The Producers Club Theaters and Rehearsal Studios, located at 358 W 44th Street between 8th & 9th Avenues. Please sign-in when you arrive and wait there until your name is called for your audition.
What Should I Bring to the Audition?
You must have a stapled headshot and resume with you at the time of audition for consideration. If you do not have a resume and headshot, please bring a piece of paper with your full name, cell phone number and e-mail address.
Rehearsal Guidelines:
The complete rehearsal schedule is posted below for both casts. You may not leave early and you may not be late for any rehearsals. Sickness is also not an excuse for missing rehearsal. Rehearsals are also held at the Producers Club in Midtown New York City.
Performance Guidelines:
This production is non-equity and there is no pay. There are no fees to participate. Performances will take place at the Producers Club (50 seats) in Midtown New York City.
